Chain of Command For Parents and Community Members

The Jacksonville School District takes pride in its communications efforts with all stakeholders of the District. To ensure that your concerns or issues are heard by the appropriate individual who can provide you with a response, the Board of Education asks that you follow the District's Chain of Command outlined below.

Step 1) If a parent or community member would like to express a concern, they should contact the teacher, supervisor, coach, or staff member who is directly involved with the concern or situation.

Step 2) If a parent or community member has discussed their concern with District personnel referred to in Step 1, and the parent or community member feels the issue needs to be discussed further, they should next contact the building Principal, Director of the appropriate program or the Athletic Director.

Step 3) If a parent or community member has followed Step 1 and Step 2 and feels the issue warrants yet further discussion, the parent or community member should then contact Central Office with the concern and they will be directed to the appropriate person in Central Office to discuss the concern.

Step 4) If the concerns still remains after completion of Steps 1, 2 and 3, the parent or community member should contact a Board of Education member who will then listen to the concerns and in consultation with the Board of Education President and/or the Superintendent will re-direct the individual back to the appropriate level or request that the concern be placed on a Board of Education agenda for full Board discussion. It is the intent of the Chain of Command to resolve concerns and issues during the earliest steps with the individual(s) directly involved with the concerns. The Chain of Command was established to ensure a structured communications opportunity for stakeholders and decisions are made in accordance with the District Philosophy, Policies, and Procedures.
