Ongoing Efforts and Programming

  • Every year we partner with the community to help collect and distribute school supplies so every student comes to school prepared for learning.
  • Through a partnership with the Share the Spirit organization, we house a shoe closet in the Foundation office. If anyone in the School District sees a need, the principal sends over a request. We are able to meet the need the same day most of the time. It is truly humbling to see the condition of some of our students’ shoes and then to hear about the excitement and pride they have when they simply get a new pair of shoes and socks.
  • Our Coats for Kids partnerships works similarly. We are simply trying to keep our kids warm. We run a coat drive every year asking for coat, glove and hat donations that can be distributed immediately as the need arises. Cash donations for this program are also welcome.
  • Play It Forward is a music program where we collect cash donations and used instruments so students who would like to participate in band or orchestra but don’t have the means to purchase or rent instruments can still be involved.
  • The Foundation manages and funds numerous scholarships that are awarded annually for various reasons to our students, one including 4 years of tuition to the University of Illinois.
  • The Bill Russell award recognizes excellence in education and is awarded annually. The Foundation is very proud to be able to fund this award that highlights the great things going on in our schools.
  • The Foundation holds a 5K Run/Walk for Education every year which allows us to award teacher grants every fall. Teachers apply for grants from $250-$500 to enhance their curriculum. We’ve provided everything from classroom level reading books to iPads and computers to PE equipment and calculators. Supporting our teachers with these grants is also a win for our students.
  • We assist with grant writing and fundraising for Parent Organizations, Extracurricular Activities, Music Programming and in other areas as needed.
  • Recently a Lincoln Elementary and Washington Elementary Dance Squad was created to give students the opportunity to participate in dance programming who normally would not be able to afford dance lessons. This is intended to build self-esteem and motivate students while also helping equalize opportunities for them when they reach the Middle School and High School tryouts. The Foundation assists with managing donations for this program.
  • The inaugural class of Distinguished Alumni Awards was held in 2017.We are very excited to recognize JHS Alumni for their outstanding achievements and contributions. A Distinguished Alumni Display is located in the Jacksonville High School to inspire future generations of Crimsons.
  • Toss for Autism is held annually to support the efforts of the District's Special Education Department.
  • The Believe In Education Drawing held every year is the fundraiser
  • The Foundation has contributed over $3 million dollars so far to the School District. We continue to work with the School District with a focus on providing support in technology and programming where needed.

Bright Future is about giving our students an educational environment in which they can thrive and be successful. It’s about facilities and a community that attracts quality educators.  It’s about preparing our students for a Bright Future whether that is college, a vocation or trade school, the work force or the military.

And the Future is Bright - Partnerships with the Foundation and the School District is having a positive impact in our schools and in our community. We are helping the School District to meet the demands of technology. We are helping our teachers enhance their curriculum. We are providing support for music programming and extra-curricular activities. We are helping our students meet their basic needs so their focus is educational and social growth. We do all of this because our children deserve a Bright Future.
