School Psychologists

Mission Statement: It is the mission of the School Psychology Department to promote educationally and psychologically healthy environments for all children and youth by implementing research-based, effective programs that prevent problems, enhance independence, and promote optimal learning through identification of students that require additional assistance.

Jacksonville School District 117 School psychologists receive specialized advanced graduate preparation that includes coursework and practical experiences relevant to both psychology and education. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists consult with parents and teachers, evaluate and advocate for students, and are active participants in various student team meetings.
